Monitoring of Total storage or the free space of storage per Index for Azure AI Search

I would like to monitor the free space of Total storage or the free space of storage per Index for Azure AI Search resource.

I see some numbers of "Total storage" with "Quota" and "Current" on the blade with Overview -> tab Usage. But there is nothing in resource Metrics and Logs. So, it is also interesting from where this information is "pushed" to that tab.

Could you please help me with this question? Or where can I submit a request to add this possibility?

Regards,

Konstantin

@Konstantin Prituko Thank you for your question!

We are pleased to share that incorporating historical metrics into the platform is already part of our roadmap.

As you rightly pointed out, the plan is to utilize the "Metrics" section within the portal to enable users to explore both historical and real-time data, including total and current storage usage.

The Product Team is actively working on this feature; however, we are currently unable to provide an estimated timeline for its availability.

Feel free to express your feedback regarding the Azure AI Search on Uservoice.

All input shared in these forums undergoes monitoring and review by the Microsoft engineering teams responsible for developing Azure.

Furthermore, users with similar requests have the opportunity to up-vote your post and contribute their comments.

Your feedback is actively considered in the ongoing development of the Azure.

    Hello Konstantin Prituko,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A and thank you for posting your questions here.

I understand that you would like to monitor the free space of Total storage or the free space of storage per Index for Azure AI Search resource.

To monitor the free space of storage per index for Azure AI Search, you can do the followings:

As you mentioned, the "Total storage" with "Quota" and "Current" values can be found under the Overview tab in the Usage section. This information is likely gathered from internal Azure monitoring systems that track resource usage and quotas.

Currently, Azure AI Search does not provide specific metrics for free space per index directly in the Metrics and Logs sections. The available metrics focus on other aspects such as document count, search latency, and query performance - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/search/monitor-azure-cognitive-search-data-reference

You can also check the Indexes section in the Azure portal, which shows the document count and storage size for each index. - https://dev.to/sabahshariq/a-novice-guide-to-azure-ai-search-48dj

If there is an issue with any of the above, you can submit a feature request to the Azure team. This can be done through the Azure Feedback Forum or by contacting Azure Support.

I hope this is helpful! Do not hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions.

Please don't forget to close up the thread here by upvoting and accept it as an answer if it is helpful.
