Hi

I know Express route is not using Internet connection. It is using dedicated private link. What does it mean? It means dedicated internet connect, telephone line or what?

Hello HASSAN BIN NASIR DAR, Azure ExpressRoute uses a dedicated private connection, which means it doesn’t go over the public Internet. Instead, it establishes a direct link between your on-premises network and Microsoft's cloud services through a connectivity provider. This dedicated private link can be setup in a few ways - Any-to-any (IP VPN) network, point-to-point Ethernet network, Virtual cross-connection.

Azure ExpressRoute is not using regular internet connections - instead, it uses dedicated private network connections between your on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Azure data centers. This means:

    • It uses dedicated fiber optic cables through connectivity providers. Either point-to-point ethernet connections or connections through an existing enterprise WAN network
    • The physical infrastructure is completely separate from the public internet
    • Lower latency since it's a direct path also with better security

Colloquially, It is like private highway between your location and the data center, while regular internet connectivity is like taking public roads.
