This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Navigating to Entra ID -> Manage Tenants
I select the last tenant visible, then select "Delete"
To be met with a "403" error.
When I attempt to request support, I need a subscription. When I attempt to Subscribe, it says my account type is not supported.
I just want to delete this abandoned tenant I created years ago that's interfering with personal use of my domain. Would greatly appreciate any advice on this matter.

Hello @Eric,
Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A.
The issue “403" error. you're encountering seems to be caused by insufficient permissions and the absence of an active subscription linked to the tenant you want to delete.
Here are the few steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Ensure Global Admin Role:
· Make sure you are logged in as a global administrator of the tenant you want to delete. Only Global Admins can delete a tenant. For more details, please refer to:https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/users/directory-delete-howto
Additionally, the "403" error typically indicates that the tenant's admin has restricted access to the admin portal for non-administrator accounts.
To address this, please follow these steps:
· Verify your role in the portal. If you are not a guest user, you may be a non-admin user in Azure AD.
· Confirm if any Conditional Access Policies are applied to the tenant that might restrict your access.
Resolve Insufficient Permissions:
If you are a non-admin user, you have two options to resolve this issue:
Option 1: Add your account as an Azure AD admin by following https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/fundamentals/how-subscriptions-associated-directory#to-assign-a-role-to-a-user
Option 2: The tenant’s admin might have restricted access to the Azure AD Admin Portal for non-admin users. If this is the case, the admin can modify this restriction by changing the setting to allow access.
I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
