Synchronizing files to OneDrive would be a better option. Also, we can turn on OneDrive Files On-Demand. This feature allows you to see all your files in File Explorer without downloading them. You can download files as needed, saving local storage space.
To enable OneDrive Files On-Demand, follow these steps:
Syncing documents from SharePoint Online to OneDrive is straightforward. Here are the steps:
- Navigate to the SharePoint Library:
- Open your web browser and go to the SharePoint site where your documents are stored.
- Navigate to the document library you want to sync.
- Click the Sync Button:
- In the document library, click the Sync button. This button is usually located in the toolbar at the top of the page.
- Sign In to OneDrive:
- If prompted, sign in to OneDrive with your work or school account. This will start the sync process.
- Open OneDrive:
- Once the sync is set up, open OneDrive on your computer. You should see the SharePoint library listed under your organization’s name in File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
- Manage Sync Settings:
- You can manage which folders to sync by right-clicking the OneDrive icon in the system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac), selecting Settings, and then choosing the Account tab. Here, you can select which folders to sync to your device.
- Use Files On-Demand:
- Enable OneDrive Files On-Demand to save space on your device. This feature allows you to see all your files in File Explorer or Finder without downloading them. You can download files as needed by double-clicking them.
