How do we upgrade our gpt-4-turbo models in Canada?

We got an email with the following information:

On 27 January 2025, we’ll begin upgrading preview models of GPT-4 (which include 1106-preview, 0125-preview, and vision-preview) to the latest GA version of GPT-4 (turbo-2024-04-09)

turbo-2024-04-09 is not available in Canada East. Will this model version become available in Canada East or should we expect our GPT-4-turbo deployments in Canada East to break on January 27th?

We can understand your concern regarding the region-specific requirement. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the upgrade path for the gpt-4 (1106-preview) Standard deployments available in Canada East region.

(Considerations for the Azure public cloud) , to be aware of the following:

1. All model version combinations will not be available in all regions.
2. Model version N and N+1 might not always be available in the same region.
3. GA model version N might upgrade to a future model version N+X in some regions based on capacity limitations, and without the new model version N+X separately being available to test in the same region.

How Azure updates OpenAI models?

Azure works closely with OpenAI to release new model versions. When a new version of a model is released, a customer can immediately test it in new deployments. Azure publishes when new versions of models are released and notifies customers at least two weeks before a new version becomes the default version of the model. Azure also maintains the previous major version of the model until its retirement date, so customers can switch back to it if desired.
