Issue Accessing Azure Portal and Microsoft Startups Credits with Hotmail Account

I recently activated my Microsoft Startups account and linked the credits to a newly created Hotmail email account. However, I didn’t set up an Azure account with any subscriptions, as I thought the activation process would automatically create a subscription for me.

When I try signing into the Azure portal, I get the following error:

AADSTS50020: Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services' and cannot access the application '[application ID]' in that tenant. The account needs to be added as an external user in the tenant first. Please use a different account.

Additionally, whenever I log into the Azure portal, I keep encountering an error that forces me to log out.

From my understanding, this might be because my Hotmail account is treated as a personal Microsoft account and not associated with an Azure AD tenant. How can I resolve this? Specifically:

Is there a way to link my Hotmail account to a tenant so I can use the Microsoft Startups credits?

Can I add myself as a guest user to fix this, or is there another process I should follow?

Any guidance or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

@hwane123 It sounds like you potentially linked a work account when you intended to link a personal account. This will require migrating the credits to the proper account.

You will need to work with a billing engineer to help assist with this matter. Can you please create a ticket here with them to have them ensure your credits are assigned to the proper account?

Let me know if you require any further assistance after creating the ticket.
