ello and sorry for my english,

In my entreprise, on computers, when i do ipconfig /all, computers are all in peer-peer node mode !

So i found that administrator that was in my entreprise set the node to peer-peer by GPO but is is not clear, by default it is Hybrid in windows, so why set peer-peer ? In my entreprise, we have active directory/DNS, no servers WINS ! We have windows 10,11 and 2016, 2022 servers

i found definition here : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/api/system.net.networkinformation.netbiosnodetype?view=net-9.0 but not clear, best to do is set peer-peer or hybrid in my configuration ? thanks a lot

    Hello,

Given that you have Active Directory and DNS in your enterprise environment, it's generally recommended to use a hybrid mode.Because the hybrid mode allows the computer to first use DNS (the part of Active Directory that provides name resolution and other services), this is generally more efficient and scalable. If DNS resolution fails, the computer can also fall back to NetBIOS broadcasting, which increases compatibility.

"So i found that administrator that was in my entreprise set the node to peer-peer by GPO"

Besides, does this mean that the administrator of your enterprise set the node type to peer?

If so, while the hybrid model is the better choice in most cases, the administrator may have made a different decision based on a deeper understanding of the enterprise network environment and actual needs. If you have questions about an administrator's decision, it is advisable to communicate with them to understand their considerations and the basis for their decision. This ensures that you have a more complete understanding of your enterprise's network environment and can better plan and manage your network.

    Best Regards

    Zunhui
