Hello,

When I try to activate Entra DS on a file share, I get the following error message:

Failed to update storage account ‘StorageAccountName’. Error: The resource ‘EntradsID’ does not exist.

I have checked the suggestions provided in the forum, but they are not the reason.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Best regards,

Jan

    Hello @Jan Pollnow,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A.

Based on your description, I understand that when attempting to enable Microsoft Entra Domain Services for identity-based access to a file share, you are encountering an error message stating: "Failed to update storage account ‘StorageAccountName’. Error: The resource ‘EntradsID’ does not exist."

This error typically occurs if Microsoft Entra Domain Services has not been enabled on your Microsoft Entra tenant.

You can refer to the following documentation to create and enable Microsoft Entra Domain Services: Create and configure Microsoft Entra Domain Services.

Additionally, please ensure that the following prerequisites have been completed before enabling Entra DS over SMB for Azure file shares.

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
