How to resolve login issue where I'm asked to use TFA when it is already in use

I have been invited by a 3rd party to share information on their SharePoint site.

When logging in on this site, I am asked to use Microsoft Authenticator app or "I want to set up a different method". When I select the latter option I am presented a QR code to scan and I am then on my phone asked with which account I want to associate this login.

The problem is that my microsoft account already uses TFA, so on my phone, it states "This account already has a verification code" and I am unable to add it.

How do I resolve this?

    Hi @Peter ,

In your case, since you are being prompted to set up a different method and receive a QR code, it suggests that the application is not recognizing your existing TFA setup. To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Ensure the Authenticator App is Updated: Make sure that your Microsoft Authenticator app is updated to the latest version, as updates may include bug fixes related to TFA.
    2. Use the Existing TFA Method: If the application allows you to select the existing method (like the Authenticator app), choose that option instead of trying to set up a new method.
    3. Remove and Re-add MFA Option
