After the 24H2 update yesterday, Quicken Classic fails to run properly. The program launches, the top ribbon appears briefly, then disappears, leaving an empty application window. An error message stating "Quicken Windows is not responding" shows up, requiring a forced close or closure through the Task Manager. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You may run the application in Compatibility Mode.

    1. Right-click the Quicken app
    2. Select "Properties"
    3. Go to the "Compatibility" tab
    4. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for"
    5. Select a previous Windows version

I'm running 24H2 [Version 10.0.26100.2314] and Quicken R60.15 Build 27.1.60.15. It's working fine for me.

Are your video drivers up to date?

Press and hold Ctrl and Shift when you open Quicken. That will launch it without opening your data file. See if that works.

If it does, make a copy of your data file and then select "Validate and Repair File" and run that against your main file or the copy.

    Hello,

    Few steps you could check:

1、Before proceeding, ensure Quicken is up to date with the latest patches, as they might include fixes for the issue you’re experiencing. Go to the Quicken website or use the update feature within the application if accessible.

2、Run as Administrator: Right-click the Quicken icon and select “Run as Administrator”. This will provide the program with additional permissions that might be necessary for it to run properly.

3、Sometimes, an update can impact compatibility settings. Right-click on the Quicken shortcut, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and see if changing the compatibility mode to an older version of Windows resolves the issue.

4、Antivirus software might interfere with Quicken. Try temporarily disabling it to see if that’s the cause. Remember to turn it back on after testing.

5、Boot your computer in Safe Mode and try running Quicken. If it works in Safe Mode, there may be a conflict with another application or service running on your computer.

6、Use Quicken’s Built-in Troubleshooting. If you can access it, Quicken might have built-in troubleshooting options. Look for these under the Help menu or similar.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian

Definitely issue with Windows 11 24H2.

Super validation and validation failed. File became big. Quicken created anothe file with weird name.

Cannot roll back after 10 days installing 24H2.

Tried deleting Quicken on 24H2 machine and reinstalled but had compatibility issue.

The choice is (latest) Windows 8.

    Forget about that.

I created Virtual machine on temporarily (90 days dev license), came witjh 22H2. Download and reinstalled Quicken. No issue on installation.

Restoring from the last good back up.

Up and running with no issue, ran Super validation, validation and online update.

Quicken needs to be more pro active in this. Informing their users to not do it until find remedy on this.
