Migrate from Exchange 2013 to Microsoft 365?

Hi everyone,

currently we have exchange server 2013 with 7.5TB DB size. we have 800 users and I’m considering using CodeTwo to migrate from on-prem Exchange 2013 to O365.

Another way is setup hybrid environment.

CodeTwo seems pretty straightforward, but I can’t find much on whether you can schedule automatic Outlook configuration after cutover… of if I have to do this either manually or with a GPO.

Also, I believe we need to setup password syncing (Entra ID) after cutover. or it’s not necessary?

Do we need to uninstall current office 2019/2021 (one-time payment)?

Can anyone comment on how the post-migration process works with Outlook and CodeTwo?

or what would you suggest?

Hi @Amir-G , You're absolutely right to be confused about why you'd keep on-prem Exchange in a hybrid setup if you’re syncing passwords with Entra ID (Azure AD). Let me clear this up:
Hybrid mode requires an on-prem Exchange server to manage certain mailbox features.

When you set up Entra ID (Azure AD Connect) for password synchronization, it syncs user passwords from your on-prem Active Directory to Office 365, ensuring users have the same password for both environments (on-prem and cloud).

Password syncing makes logging into Office 365 seamless, but it doesn't replace the need for an on-prem Exchange if you're still using a hybrid setup.
