Windows 11.  Visual Studio 2019 was installed a few days ago.    I create a Python command line project, put a debug statement at the first line, start debugging, and this message is immediately displayed:

This version of python seems to be incorrectly compiled

(internal generated filenames are not absolute).

This may make the debugger miss breakpoints.

The referenced web page has some details, but a corrective action was not detected on that page.

What can be done to correct this problem?

    Hi @Bryan Kelly,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Are you using the latest version of VS2019? If no, please update it with Visual Studio Installer.

Please ensure that you are using a supported version of Python such as Python 3.9 or higher version.

You can try to reinstall Python environment.

If it persists, you can share us more reproduce steps to investigate it further.

    Sincerely,

    Anna
