Remove English (Australia) in keyboard?

I can't seem to be able to find/remove the English (Australia) keyboard anywhere in the keyboard setting. I switch between English (US) and Vietnamese often to type and this extra keyboard keep making me change the keyboard twice every time. Does anyone have a solution for this? Thank you.51947-key1.jpg51982-key2.jpg51927-key3.jpg

Hi @DucTungNguyen-1523

use CMD to uninstall Languages

While this is a known issue with the 1803 update, you should be able to remove the unwanted language via an elevated command prompt if you are comfortable. Please try the following

Press Windows key + X Then Press A

In the Command prompt type lpksetup.exe /u en-AU (Note: this selection is for AU English language. )
Press Enter
This should uninstall the unwanted language
Restart PC and ensure you install latest updates (as this was some known bug sometime back)

If this does not work you can also try to install a new copy of your desired language, set the new copy to default. Then uninstall all unwanted languages including the original copy of your default language. For further help with these issues you can also refer to the following Microsoft help articles.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/default-input-locales-for-windows-language-packs

OR

Right click your Start Button, choose Powershell (admin)

Run this command and then hit Enter:

$1 = New-WinUserLanguageList en-US
Run this command and then hit Enter
Set-WinUserLanguageList $1

Close Powershell and restart your PC

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Hi,

It seems that there isn't a known issue for 1803 related to this issue. Could you please give us more details? But there is indeed a known issue about Asian language packs for 1809.

As to the command line tool you provided, it doesn't work on my Win 10, 2004. I tried to use it to uninstall my en-US language package by changing the en-AU to en-US, but after restaring my PC, en-US is still there and works fine.

The PowerShell cmdlet works. Can I use it to add a second language? I tried to add en-UK but it failed. I already have en-US on my PC.

Firstly, please open start and search for feedback and open Feedback Hub app and report this issue.
You may try add English (Australia) in the list and then remove it and see if that solve the issue?
If not, try remove all languages and then add the one you want.

Hi,

I noticed that you've accepted JoydeepDutt-2506's answer. Glad that the issue is solved.

Just to remind you that the default language pack of your system might not be uninstalled. If you installed your OS by using ISO file which has a default language pack, you may unable to uninstall this package.

To anyone searching about this in 2022 for windows 11.

The following method is the correct way to do it without going through command prompt.

  1. Settings>Time and Language>Language and Region>Add a preferred language>Add the Australia Language Pack

  2. Once the language pack is installed, remove the language pack, it will remove the Australia keyboard.
