Cannot Delete a Function Container App

Hi there,

I have an Azure Container Function which has become unresponsive.

I have tried to delete over the last 24 hours - but I am getting the error:

"Cannot modify this site because another operation is in progress" (This is through the portal)

I understand that you are trying to delete a function app function from portal that is running with container image instead of code.

If the above understand is correct, have you tried deleting the same using either Cmdlets or through REST API? If not, please use of any of the below method and re-try the same and let us know if you are still facing the issue.

Az CLI cmdlets to delete function app:

az functionapp delete [--ids] [--keep-empty-plan] [--name] [--resource-group] [--slot] [--subscription]

Az CLI Cmdlet to delete function app function:

az functionapp function delete --function-name --name --resource-group

PowerShell Cmdlet to delete function App:

Remove-AzFunctionApp -Name <String> -ResourceGroupName <String> [-SubscriptionId <String>] [-Force] [-DefaultProfile <PSObject>] [-PassThru] [-WhatIf] [-Confirm] [<CommonParameters>]

Still no joy I'm afraid .....

Remove-AzFunctionApp returns a Conflict error

Though the CLI, I get a message "Invalid Operation. This function is currently preset in your image"

This is a Function running in a Container App Environment.

When I look at the function as a container app - the container is failing to activate with the following error:

"The TargetPort 80 does not match the listening port 45817. 1/1 Container crashing: functions-container The TargetPort 80 does not match the listening port 41675. The TargetPort 80 does not match the listening port 45813"

Frustrating to say the least.

Finally deleted it via the Portal. No idea of what process had it locked in the background

@Keith Doran Thanks for your response and glad to know that your problem has been resolved.

This looks like service side issue because the previous operation is running in progress it is not able to delete the function apps.

If you are looking for more insights about this issue/Root cause analysis I would suggest you to raise a support ticket to assist you further,

The error message you are seeing indicates that there might be another operation in progress on the site. To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

Check if there are any other operations in progress on the site. You can do this by going to the "Activity log" section in the Azure portal and checking for any ongoing operations related to your Azure Container Function.

If there are no ongoing operations, try deleting the site again. If you are still unable to delete the site, you can try deleting it using Azure CLI or Azure PowerShell.
