I have a reservation of 5 instances of Azure Blob Storage Cool GRS data 1 pb for 3 years term in west us region. I want to check 2 scenarios:

  1. Can I exchange it to 1 year term?
  2. Can I change the region, so the reservation will be for west us 2 region?
Please provide me with details about pricing and additional fees that will be required for exchange.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Anna Martirosyan - Thanks for reaching out over Q&A Forum.

    For #1:

Exchanging a reservation enables you to receive a prorated refund based on the unused portion of the reservation. You can then apply the refund to the purchase price of a new Azure Storage reservation.

There's no limit on the number of exchanges you can make. Additionally, there's no fee associated with an exchange. The new reservation that you purchase must be of equal or greater value than the prorated credit from the original reservation.

    For #2:

You can also exchange a reservation to purchase another reservation of a similar type in a different region.

I would recommend you start with the below documentation which talks amount exchange scenarios. Thereafter, you might need to raise a support ticket as well for required changes as well.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Anna Martirosyan ,

Greetings & Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum! Thanks for posting your query!

Yes, you can exchange your Azure Blob Storage reservation from a 3-year term to a 1-year term. Azure allows you to change the term length of your reservation the pricing will be adjusted based on the new term length. Typically, a 1-year term will have a higher annual cost compared to a 3-year term due to the shorter commitment period.

Change the Region from West US to West US 2

You can also change the region of your reservation from West US to West US 2
Azure supports exchanging reservations to different regions within the same type of service. This means you can move your reserved capacity to another region if needed.

    Pricing and Additional Fees
When you exchange a reservation, the cost will be recalculated based on the current prices for the new term length and region. Here are some key points to consider:

Price Adjustment: The new reservation will be priced according to the current rates for the 1-year term and the West US 2 region.

No Additional Fees: Generally, there are no additional fees for exchanging reservations, but the cost of the new reservation might differ from the original due to the change in term length and region.
