Hi,

I was supposed to configure the following group policy on Windows 11 24H2.

Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Network\DNS Client\Configure DNS over HTTPS (DoH) name resolution

set the following UI path to Enabled: Allow DoH (configuring to Enabled: Require DoH also conforms to the benchmark):

  • I couldn't find this group policy (see screenshot).

What I have tried so far > Created the following registry keys but still it seems like these keys are not mapping the correct policy.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache\Parameters]

"EnableAutoDoh"=dword:00000002

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\DNSClient]

"EnableAutoDoh"=dword:00000002

Question > Is it normal to NOT have this policy by default in Windows 11? What is work-around if I need to configure this setting?

    Hello

    Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

    It's not unusual for the "Configure DNS over HTTPS (DoH) name resolution" policy to be missing by default in some versions of Windows 11. This policy might not be available in all editions or builds, especially if you're using a version that doesn't include the latest administrative templates.

    Ensure you have the latest Administrative Templates (ADMX/ADML files) for Windows 11. You can download the latest Administrative Templates (ADMX/ADML files) for Windows 11 from the Microsoft Download Center. This will ensure you have the necessary templates to configure policies like DNS over HTTPS.

    Reference:

     Download Administrative Templates (.admx) for Windows 11 2022 Update ...

    I hope the information above is helpful.

    If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
