Microsoft Edge in Facebook glitch after update

Question

I use my pc and Edge to browse Facebook. Sometimes I open a chat with a friend and while typing a response the cursor will jump to the 3 dots, "alt-f" menu and open it when I hit the space bar or anytime I enter a period.

If I hit the period on the numbers keypad it doesn't happen. It's like the key "." is being remapped while in facebook.

Any idea how to fix this. Thank you.

Please check if you have any shortcut mapped to Period key in Edge extensions or 3rd-party software. The "." in main keyboard area is called Period key while the one in numeric keypad area is called NumpadDecimal. To me it is most likely to be a problem related to customized shortcuts.

Sounds like you might be dealing with a mix of browser shortcuts, some keyboard settings, or maybe even an extension that’s messing with how Edge works. Just a heads up, pressing Alt + F will open the menu in Edge. So, make sure you’re not hitting that Alt key by mistake while you’re typing. Check if you’ve got any keyboard remapping tool or a custom driver that might be messing things up. These can change how your keys behave without you realizing it.

Head over to Control Panel > Region & Language > Keyboard Settings. Make sure you’ve gotten the right keyboard layout selected (like US QWERTY). If you can, test with a different keyboard to see if it’s a hardware issue.

Open Edge and go to edge://settings/clearBrowserData. Choose Cached images and files and Cookies, then clear them out.

Navigate to edge://extensions/. Turn off all your extensions. Restart Edge and check if the problem is still there. If it isn’t, then turn on your extensions one at a time to find out which one’s causing trouble.
