Are you talking about a disk in a VM or are you talking about a physical Windows machine? You tagged this question as an Azure data disk which is leading to answers for how to do this using Azure. If this is a physical Windows machine then you can't use Azure for that. Please provide us more information on what system you're trying to do this on.

Thanks for your question. You will need to follow the general steps below:

In the Azure portal, go to the virtual machine in which you want to expand the disk. Select Stop to deallocate the VM.
In the left menu under Settings, select Disks.
Select the disk
Click Size + performance and select the new SKU
You can proceed to restart the VM.
Once these are done, also check extend the OS partition.

I understand that you would like to resize your OS disk from 127 GB to 252 GB.

Please find the below steps in Azure portal to Resize your VM. Make sure to stop the VM before performing the below steps.

In the Azure portal, go to the virtual machine in which you want to expand the disk. Select Stop to deallocate the VM.
In the left menu under Settings, select Disks.
In the VM overview, go to Disks under Settings.
Select the OS disk.
Click Size + performance.
Enter the new size (252 GB).
Click Resize. In the VM overview, click Start.

Important Notes:

Data Loss: Ensure you have a recent backup of your VM before resizing the disk, as there's a slight risk of data loss during the process.
OS Considerations: The steps might vary slightly depending on the operating system (Windows, Linux) and the specific version.
Disk Type: The resizing process might differ slightly depending on the type of disk (standard, premium, etc.).

By following these steps, you should be able to successfully resize your Azure VM's OS disk from 127 GB to 252 GB.

first you have to extend the managed OS Disk of the VM in the Azure Portal: Resize a managed disk in the Azure portal

In the second step you have to extend the OS partition in the OS of VM: Expand the volume in the operating system
