When opening the app (which has always worked), I was asked to sign in with my Microsoft account. I received an email with a code, entered it, and since then, the app has been locked (even though Face ID shows a green checkmark every time I open it). It says, "Authenticator locked." The "Unlock" button at the bottom doesn’t respond either. The entire app seems frozen (except for the green checkmark). Even without Face ID and by entering the iPhone passcode, the app remains locked. How can I regain access?

2025-03-01T12:05:26.84+00:00 I would like to give a little bit more input regarding the problem.
The problem shows exactly as described by Elivra Hosp.
I only have this problem on iPhone (16, IOS 18.3). On Android it works fine.What I discovered is that the app still works, if an authorization request comes in. You can accept or decline. If this happens, you can even unlock it. I used on of these moments to disable the app-lock in the Authenticator's preferences. Now I'm missing one additional security layer but have a working Authenticator.
I will stick to this setting until Microsoft comes up with a solution. Hopefully this will be in the near future - Authenticator is critical infrastructure.

Microsoft is too big of a corporation and does not give the slightest feacel matter about us small uesrs so they dont give a toss if we can solve the problem or not. you try and call but the automated phone basically tells you to get lost because they don;t care and there is nothing that we can do about it.
