Windows 11 Insider Build, Unable to Open Settings Due to Memory Read Error

Error Message: "The instruction at 0x00007FF85063C003 referenced memory at 0x0000000000000010. The memory could not be read."

What do I do? I think I accidentally deleted an update, corrupting files. I've tried several fixes I've seen online, (sfc, DISM, reinstalling settings) but nothing seems to work.

thanks in advance.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Here are some steps we can try:

    1. Restart Windows Explorer

    1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
    2. Find Windows Explorer in the list, right-click it, and select Restart.

    2. Run System Maintenance Troubleshooter

    1. Press Win + R, type msdt.exe -id MaintenanceDiagnostic, and press Enter.
    2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
    3. Since SFC and DISM didn't work earlier, let's try running them again in Safe Mode:

    4. Reset the Settings App

    1. Press Win + I to open Settings (if it opens).
    2. Go to Apps > Apps & features.
    3. Find Settings in the list, click on it, and select Advanced options.
    4. Click Reset.

5.Reinstall Windows insider with official media.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou

I’ve had the same issue with the latest release preview. I reset my PC, deleting my files, and all was fine, until the recent update reinstalled and it started all over again. I cannot open the settings window. But if I search for windows update (or another of the settings) in the top of the start menu, I can go directly.
