Azure signup process for free account: We’re unable to validate your phone number

Trying to signup for a free Azure account using 'Try Azure For Free' option from [https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/purchase-options/azure-account]. After providing email and password I was redirected to 'signup.azure.com' where it is asking for country, name, mobile, address details.

After inserting mobile number there is an option 'Text Me'. I inserted my mobile number as instructed and clicking on 'Text Me' navigates me to an error page which says:

"We’re unable to validate your phone number

Phone validation is required to confirm your identity and complete signup.

Reenter your SMS verification code, or try again with a different phone number."

Due to above error I am not able to create azure subscription for the free account and I stuck here despite trying all available suggestions from internet community.

Is this error for real? I mean I see people have been reporting this error since about a month and still the issue persists!

    Hi Dhara Patel,
Thank you for contacting us from the Microsoft Q&A forum.

To resolve issues related to phone validation during the Azure account creation process, we recommend the following steps:

1.Check Phone Number Requirements: Ensure that the phone number you are using for verification meets the necessary requirements. Note that Voice-over-IP (VoIP) numbers cannot be used for this process. Make sure your phone can receive calls or SMS messages from a United States-based number, and double-check the phone number you entered, including the correct country code.

2.Troubleshooting Resources: For detailed troubleshooting steps, please refer to this guide: Troubleshoot Azure Sign-Up.

3.Contact Customer Support: If you continue to experience issues, we recommend contacting Microsoft Support directly. You can find the customer service phone numbers specific to your country here: Global Customer Service Phone Numbers. When you speak with a representative, inform them that you are unable to validate your phone number, and they will create a support ticket and escalate your case to the Azure Subscription/Account Review team.

4.Creating a Support Ticket: Alternatively, you can create a support ticket through the Azure portal by following these instructions: Create Azure Support Request. If you have access to a different tenant, you can also create a support ticket from there.

Please don't forget to "Accept answer" and close this thread.
