I receive this error message intermittently when I run a query against a storage account from SSMS. It works most of the time but at certain times, it fails. I find it's been failing a lot more now than before and I know it's not a permissions-related issue. Sometimes I copy the query to a new session and it works right away at times it fails in a new session but 5-10 mins later it works like it never threw an error initially.

Thanks for asking about the query. I doubt this is the issue. This query works 90% of the time. its an intermittent failure taking place here. it runs same query all the time. That same query when copied and pasted into another ssms session will then work. Though having said that, at times it wont work for 5-10 mins. I suspect more Network related issue and I have always put it to that until recently when it started to do that more and more. as in a couple of times a day. I cant find anything in the logs that indicate a Network blip but that could as well be the issue still

You said you were running a query against a storage account. I can't see any trace of such an account in this query. But maybe one of the table sources in your query is an external table that maps to a storage account?

Also, the information from @@version in combination with the usage of third-part notation tells me that you are using Azure SQL Managed Instance. Certainly a useful piece of information.

I think your best option may be to open a support case. Since the error is transient, it sounds like an issue in Azure.
