Updated Windows 11 no longer seeing my speaker

After my Windows 11 updated recently, my Bose bluetooth speaker no longer works. It says it's connecting in Bluetooth but does not appear as an option in the Sound output devices. If I click on "add device" it just spins, as though it's already connected. I've tried updating the drivers (says it's got the latest), disabling, uninstalling and rebooting several times. It shows up in Device Manager under bluetooth devices as "working properly" but not in audio devices. Properties shows "device settings not migrated." What the heck, why do updates seem to always ruin something?! This speaker worked just fine for the last year. I've tried connecting it to 2 different USB ports instead of bluetooth, no help.

Similar questions all give the same spiel about updating your driver, etc.--not helpful! Surely there is something else I can do?

    Hi,

You can try the following steps to resolve this issue with your Bose Bluetooth speaker:

    1. Run Bluetooth and Audio Troubleshooters:
      • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter and follow the prompts.
      • Run the Playing Audio troubleshooter and follow the prompts.
    2. Reset Bluetooth Adapter:
      • Open Device Manager, expand the Bluetooth section, right-click on your Bluetooth adapter, and select "Uninstall device".
      • Restart your computer to let Windows reinstall the Bluetooth adapter automatically.
    3. Remove and Re-Pair the Device:
      • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
      • Find your Bose speaker in the list of paired devices, click on it, and select "Remove device".
      • Put your Bose speaker in pairing mode and try adding it again by clicking "Add device" and selecting "Bluetooth".
    4. Check Bluetooth Services:
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
      • Ensure that the following services are set to "Automatic" and are running:
      • Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service
      • Bluetooth Support Service
      • Bluetooth User Support Service

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue

There is no such problem in Windows 11 23H 2. The solution was to install a 23H2 viral operating system on a 24H2 operating system. This is only a temporary and incomplete solution to the problems. We are waiting for driver updates!!!

I figured it out!! I had to remove all devices from the speaker itself (by holding the bluetooth button for over 10 seconds until it said it had removed all devices), and then my computer saw it under the Bluetooth devices and allowed me to repair it. Whew!
