Hello

Please i need your help on this issue.

Sharepoint list search not working.

Sharepoint list search is not returning any results for some specific lists. Meanwhile, some users report that search is working for them on the lists where for others it is not working. For example for the following list, search is not working for the GA user too

Screenshot that shows that the search is not working too.

    Hi @IniobongNkanga-8038 ,

As per your description, may I know have you tried to Reindexed the list and tried search for list item after 2-3 minutes? via go to List Settings>Advanced settings>Reindex List under the "Reindex" section.

Note: sometimes it takes time to re-index lists.

Also, try disable search on site. click ok. After few minutes enable search on site. Sometimes it will work in my experience.

You could refer to following document

And if reindex doesn't fix the issue, you could refer to the steps in the similar issue

This is so dumb that it seems like it's GOT to be a bug to me.

I came across this recently and found that any users with permissions to the list LOWER than "can edit list" were able to view the list perfectly fine, but when using the search function they were not able to view any results. Nothing else I tried worked - only elevating users to "can edit list" allowed searches to return results for the list.

Again, it's got to be a bug because in what world would anyone viewing a huge list not want the ability to search it instead of scrolling until they find what they need. Also, what list owner is going to want to give everyone blanket edit rights to a list when all they need is the ability to view it?

Are you listening Microsoft? This is why we can't have nice things!
