How to add cells together in Excel that arent numbers

Hello,

I am just wondering if there is a similar function to 'SUM' in excel that instead counts the cells that have any kind of value in them? For example, I have a list of employees, however, some cells in the column are blank. I want Excel to be able to give me a numerical figure on how many employees there are, without counting the blank spots.

Thanks!

    Hi @Sam

    Welcome to Q&A.

I want to help you, but could you please share us with a simple sample for better analysis?

Currently, I suggest you try formula like =COUNTA(A1:A6).
