Our organization (based in The Netherlands) has an E5 license, but no Microsoft 365 Copilot license (yet). Right now I see that there is an upload limit of 1MB and just 1 file, on Copilot Chat. Is this limit unchanged when we purchase the Copilot license?

The previous file upload limitation in Copilot Chat has been removed. You can now upload files larger than 1MB per prompt. Each prompt can accommodate a file up to 512MB, the same as the capacity available with a Copilot license.
This update will be fully rolled out by the end of Q1 2025.
Microsoft representatives stated this today in a webinar about Copilot Chat.

Would you have a link to that webinar? We have A5 licensed users in the same tenant getting different experiences using Copilot Bizchat. Some can upload documents larger than 1MB, others get an message saying 1MB is the file size limit. I would like to get a definitive answer to this...
In Copilot Chat the limit was 1 MB, if someone has a licence, there is no file size limit per prompt. The webinar happened a few days ago (the "Basic" one from the link below) and I did not get a recording. But on the following site, you have the opportunity to register for another one, where you definitely can ask questions:

Our organisation is involved in testing both licensed and free versions of Copilot Chat. The free version had an upload limit of 1 Mb which has recently changed to 512Mb, as mentioned. However, I cannot find any info on the number of files you can upload in a 24 hour period, for the free version. This was previously limited to 5 files per day, but now there does not seem to be a limit. Can you confirm? Many thanks.
We have access to Copilot Chat at no additional cost through our enterprise version of Microsoft 365. However, I don't know our specific contract level. Previously, we were limited to uploading one file per prompt. To work with multiple files, we had to upload each file individually (1 per prompt) within the same chat. This allowed us to circumvent the limitation and perform tasks such as comparing and summarising multiple files simultaneously.
Today, I received a notification indicating that up to three files could be uploaded. However, when I attempted to upload a second file (both files were tested with sizes less than and greater than 1MB), I received a message stating that the number of files exceeded the limit. It appears that changes are still being implemented.
