How to select audio output between 2 HDMI devices?

2025-02-10T06:33:16.24+00:00

I tried to watch a movie using my laptop as the data source, my TV to display the video, and an audio receiver to output the sound. When I connected my laptop to the TV and the audio receiver using two different HDMI ports simultaneously—one via HDMI and the other via HDMI through a USB adapter—Windows automatically selected the HDMI connection to the TV as the default audio output.

How can I set Windows to choose my audio receiver as the audio output instead?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

To set your audio receiver as the default audio output in Windows, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open Sound Settings:

    • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.

    • Alternatively, you can go to Settings > System > Sound > More sound settings.

    2. Navigate to the Playback Tab:

    • In the Sound settings window, click on the Playback tab.

    • You will see a list of all available audio output devices.

    3. Set Your Audio Receiver as Default:

    • Find your audio receiver in the list of playback devices.

    • Right-click on it and select Set as Default Device.

    • Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.

    4. Verify the Change:

    • Ensure that your audio receiver is now listed as the default device.

    • You can test the sound to confirm that audio is being routed through the receiver.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,
