I selected the wrong version of Windows following an update in my boot files. How can i change it back?

After a recent windows update, my laptop suddenly started asking me to choose between two seemingly identical windows operating systems (ie, labels were the same on the screen). I chose one (apparently the wrong one!) and the laptop went into a cycle where it tried (and failed) to start and continued to do this in a loop. I downloaded the Windows 11 operating system files on a usb and managed to start the laptop to start this way, and i managed to get open the Windows 1 Setup option. From here selected “Repair my PC” and continued thru to “Troubleshoot”. But from here i am lost…

Can anyone help be navigate back to my system files on the laptop to select the correct version (of the two versions that appeared with an update)?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

You can change the default operating system in your boot files by following these steps:

    1. Access System Configuration:

    • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.

    • Type msconfig and press Enter.

    2. Modify Boot Settings:

    • In the System Configuration window, go to the Boot tab.

    • You will see a list of installed operating systems.

    • Select the correct version of Windows you want to set as default.

    • Click Set as default.

    • Click Apply and then OK.

    3. Restart Your Computer:

    • Restart your computer to apply the changes.

I hope the information above is helpful.
