Visual Studio freezes and closes when I try to open a new terminal. The sign comes out: "The windows is not responding" reopen, close or keep waiting.

I have the latest version of Visual Studio and the .NET SDK

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

What's your specific version of VS? Could you tell us how you open a new terminal?

Please end all Visual Studio processes from the task manager. Then, open the Visual Studio Installer > More > Repair your VS.

You can open Developer Command Prompt for VS and run the command: devenv /safemode to run VS without any extensions, check if the installed extensions affect or not.

If you have any anti-virus software, please temporarily disable it.

I'm having the same issue. After:

Restarting Windows

Getting the latest update to VS

Repairing VS 2022.

Running in safe mode

I can't get the problem.... because there is no option to open a terminal in safe mode. You should try your solutions first.

However, using VS normally:

I run VS

I choose to open no code

Press Ctrl-` or menu View->Terminal

VS freezes, then crashes.

From my searching forums, I've seen that a lot of people have this problem, and there's no real answer forthcoming. Asking "Could you tell us how you open a new terminal?" is just stalling. We all start it the same way. And, as I said, you didn't try your solution to see if it was even reasonable.
