Hello,
The "Network" tab in Windows Task Manager shows the network usage of processes on the current primary network in Mbps. The "Network" tab is only displayed when a network adapter exists. It shows the real-time network usage of each network adapter in the current system, including the amount of data sent and received. Users can monitor the traffic of each network adapter through the "Network" column to understand which applications or services are using the network and the amount of traffic they are using. If your computer has multiple network adapters, a composite index of all networks will be displayed here to indicate all network traffic.
The role of InterfaceMetric:
The Windows operating system uses InterfaceMetric to determine the priority of network interfaces. The lower the InterfaceMetric value, the higher the priority of the interface.
By changing the InterfaceMetric value, you can influence the operating system's preference when selecting the default network interface.
So even if the InterfaceMetric value is changed, the Task Manager will still display the summary of the usage of all network adapters. This is due to the limitations of the operating system or the display logic of the Task Manager.
If you want to observe the usage of a specific network adapter, you can click on the specific network adapter from the "Performance" tab in the Task Manager or view more detailed information from the "Network" tab in the Resource Monitor.
I hope the information above is helpful.
Best regards
Zunhui
