Entra ID authentication on a physical windows server 2022 standand (NOT located in azure)

Question

Hello

we have a physical server windows standard 2022 without Active directory and is not located in azure.

has some local users that connect via RDP.

My question is ,can i join somehow this server on our entra id tenant ,in order our O365 users to connect wither their one credentials to this server (login authentication only). ?

Unfortunately that's not supported. On the Windows Server OS side, only Windows Server 2022 on Azure VMs support Entra join.

That's clearly stated in https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/devices/concept-directory-join

Operating Systems	All Windows 11 and Windows 10 devices except Home editions
	Windows Server 2019 and newer Virtual Machines running in Azure (Server core isn't supported)
	(Public preview) Apple devices running macOS 13 or newer

thank you for the above , i understand that as workaround ,if i install active directory in this server then with Entra ID connector/sync program ,i can sync users with my O365 tenant ,therefore users can login via their own entra id credentials ,is that correct? ..if yes ,is there is any guide that depict this scenario (co-pilot is too misleading for provide accurate info on this topic)
