BEWARE ))))) Windows 10 Version 20H2 (KB4592438)......I am JUST like everyone else, we faithfully have our Computers UPDATE Windows over the Years, when the Updates come in. We stay "in tune" and keep our OS safe. Woke up today(1/2/2021) Turned on computer and it said, " Please wait while Windows Updates". I thought cool. THEN, my Microsoft Log In Picture(a Car) was gone. I signed in with my password and BOOM, My Desktop/Computer did a FACTORY RESET. ALL my Pictures/Documents/Music/Videos/etcetc after YEARS were GONE. I checked and it said the Update "failed" to install. A lie. It did install and killed my Comp. Tried "System Restore" and ALL previous dates GONE. So after thinking(an hour and a 1/2), I went and

UNISTALLED it and thank GOD it reverted back to normal. I post this JUST in case this happens to anyone else. NO, I did not "click" anything wrong, I sat calmly while it updated and finished. People just might not be as lucky as I was, and know what to do, but here I am warning you. (((((BEWARE.

    Sorry to hear your experience.

I have updated my OS to Version 20H2 and it's running well.

You can use Feedback app and report the same to Microsoft.

    Hi,

Thank you for feedback about your experience.

I also using Windows 10 version 20H2 with the latest update KB4592438 installed, and didn't found any changes after update installed, and haven't heard any similar issue from other customers.

If the issue only occur on your device and just only occur on that update package, we could wait for January update release, and install it manually through Windows Update catalog. Before that, please back up your data, we also recommend to create a system restore point when your computer works well.

If you want to analysis this issue deeply, please backup your data, and run process monitor tool to capture all thread actions, then installed that update to analysis thread actions. We also need to use CBS.log file located in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS combined with process monitor result.

    Bests,

This is NOT a normal behavior and I observed and deployed several successful updates for Windows. From what you explained, I guess for some reason your profile failed to load and it means all you applications, files and personalization are there but for some reason they failed to load. In this case you should investigate log files to see what went wrong.
Glad it is working now and you may open start and search for feedback and open the Feedback Hub app and report this issue, so the Windows team would be able to investigate.
