I have an App service domain that expired 44 days ago. How can I renew it today without waiting the 60 days? I say the following Microsoft documentation.

If the automatic renewal option wasn't enabled for the domain and it's now expired, you have the following options:

  • For the first four days, there will be no impact.
  • On the fifth day, DNS records will be removed. The domain name will be redirected to a parked website.
  • Before the eighteenth day, we can renew the domain at the regular price.
  • Starting the eighteenth day to forty-second day, you may redeem your domain but would need to pay a redemption fee and domain renewal fee.
  • From the forty-second day to the sixtieth day, there will be an auction for the domain and any other registrar will be able to bid a higher value for the domain and buy it from GoDaddy.
  • After 60 days, the domain can be repurchased (if available).

Alright, mate! So, your App Service domain has been expired for 44 days, and you’re stuck in the "redemption period" am I right?

You’re past the 18-day grace period, so you can’t renew it at the standard price anymore. Bummer.

You’re also past the 42-day mark, meaning your domain is now in the "auction phase." Other registrars (like GoDaddy) can swoop in and bid on it. Yikes! But don’t panic! You can still redeem it before the 60-day mark. You’ll need to pay a redemption fee (extra cash, sorry) plus the renewal fee.save your domain log into your Azure portal. Head to your App Service domain settings. Look for the option to redeem the domain and follow the prompts. If you’re quick, you can still grab it back before it goes to auction or gets snapped up by someone else. Fingers crossed!

    regds,

    Alex
