Microsoft Apps on Mac won't let me sign in to new account

Question

The previous account I used for Microsoft was my university email. I am no longer able to access my university email so I signed out of that account and am trying to sign in with my new account through work. When I click sign in on any of my apps, it automatically takes me to my old university portal to sign in and won't let me sign in through my work account, I can't get off the university portal. I just deleted all the apps and re-downloaded them through my work account and this didn't fix the problem. I have associated my work email through outlook and have no issue with that app, but cannot sign in on the other apps including work, excel and powerpoint. I've tried everything I can think of to fix this, without success.
