I've only ever had windows 11 home installed on this PC. after recently updating to the newest version of windows 11 i get an error code 0xC004F012, and a message saying" Make sure you're signed in with the same account linked to the windows 10 digital license". This makes no sense and i don't know how to fix it since i have never owned or downloaded windows 10. I can't change my product key because i threw out the box after putting it in not knowing id need it.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

The error code 0xC004F012 typically indicates a problem with the product key or licensing information. Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Ensure your computer is connected to the internet and that the connection is stable. Sometimes, activation issues can arise from a poor or unstable connection.
    2. Windows 11 has a built-in troubleshooter that can help diagnose and resolve activation issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Troubleshoot and follow the prompts.
    3. Sometimes, re-entering the key manually through the settings can bypass some issues.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
