Password help

Question

The computer made me reset my password so I do, now I forget it! How do I change it if I can’t get into my computer?? Please! So much stuff is in it

Try changing login password from login screen itself using this guide:

Once you reset password, make sure you remember it to avoid inconvenience.

Is your machine in one domain or workgroup?

1. If it is in one workgroup or in one domain and your account is local Administrator (password is not remembered), you can sign in using Microsoft account, then reset the password of the administrator.
2. If it is in one workgroup or in one domain and your account is Microsoft account (password is not remembered), you can access Microsoft web to reset the password.

Steps:

• On another device (like a smartphone or another computer), go to the Microsoft Password Reset page:  

https://account.live.com/password/reset  

• Follow the prompts to reset your Microsoft account password.  

• Once you’ve reset it, return to your locked computer and sign in with the new password.

3. If it is in one domain and your account is domain account (password is not remembered), let domain admin help to reset your password.
