Hello,

I'm going to be honest, I'm weak regarding DFS, I'm hoping someone can help me out with the issue we're having with our DFS servers.

After installing our second server to be the backup of our main DC and DFS server, we’ve noticed that the shared folders only appear intermittently throughout the day. We haven't enabled synchronization, and when the folders from the main server aren't visible, the folders from the new server (like NETLOGON, SYSVOL, and others) do appear.

Could anyone provide guidance on how to resolve this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Domain controllers without shared can't replicate inbound because of upstream (source) domain controllers being in an error state. Frequently (but not limited to), the upstream servers have stopped replication because of a dirty shutdown (event ID 2213).SYSVOL

Thank you so much for your reply! I think I may not have explained myself clearly in my initial message.

Previously, when we had just one server (Domain Controller & DFS), all our folders were visible under the Namespace. However, after adding the new server (Domain Controller & DFS), we’ve noticed that the folders are intermittently appearing—sometimes they show up, other times they don’t. The first screenshot shows all the folders under the Namespace, while the second screenshot only displays two of them. We haven’t enabled DFS syncing yet.

As I mentioned, I’m new to DFS, and any guidance or insight you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
