Hello, I came across this piece in my security training (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/modules/describe-application-based-threats-security-controls/2-describe-applications)

"Typically, the information collected is shared with other apps. For example, your browser search history is often shared with social media sites so they can provide targeted advertisements based on that information."

I believe that the statement "browser search history is often shared with social media sites" is inaccurate. Could you please convince me otherwise or provide a correction?

    Hi Konrad

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q & A forum.

The statement in the exercise could be misleading, as browser search history is not directly shared with social media platforms. However, social media sites can track user behavior through cookies, pixels, and logged-in activity to personalize ads. A more accurate wording would be: "Social media platforms and advertisers use tracking technologies and account-linked data to tailor ads based on browsing activity." We appreciate your feedback, and the wording will be updated in a future revision.
