- Microsoft Azure Data Access: Microsoft Azure typically doesn't provide detailed hardware failure data due to privacy and security concerns. However, you can contact Microsoft directly and explain that you are working on an educational research project. They might give you access to anonymized or aggregated data.
- Alternative Data Sources: If Azure data isn’t available, you could look for research papers, public reports, or academic studies on cloud hardware failures, which may have some relevant data or trends.
- Simulated Data: If real data is inaccessible, consider using simulated data. You can create your own dataset based on known failure rates or trends in cloud computing.
Request for Cloud Hardware Failure Data for Educational Research
Hi, I’m Dheeraj Karthikeyan, a Grade 11 IB student at Tsukuba International School. I’m working on a mathematical model to predict cloud hardware failures, which is part of my IB Mathematics Internal Assessment (IA).
To improve the accuracy of my predictive model, I am looking for historical cloud hardware failure data from Microsoft Azure. This data will allow me to analyze trends and validate the software I am developing as part of my project.
I’d like to confirm whether Azure provides access to such datasets for educational research purposes. If needed, I am also happy to present my project idea in person at Microsoft Japan before data collection and share my final mathematical model and software with Microsoft after completing the project.
I appreciate any guidance on where I can request this data or if there are alternative datasets available. Thank you for your time!
