Authenticator not working (Error message)
I have been trying to log into my Microsoft Account which requires 2-factor-authentication (2FA). I don't remember my password, since I have been relying on using my Authenticator app.
However, when I try to log in a two letter code appears on the screen and I get a request to authorise the log in on Authenticator. On the Authenticator app I receive a prompt, which asks me to select one of three two letter codes to verify that I am trying to log in. After selecting the correct two letter code, I receive the following error on my authenticator app: "Error communicating with the server. Error code: PP_E_SA_INV..."
I can receive a code to my backup e-mail, but since I am using 2FA, I can't log in or reset my password if I don't either 1) know my password or 2) can use Authenticator.
If I try to reset my password, I get asked to "Enter the code generated by your authenticator app." If I try to do that, I receive the following error: "There's a temporary problem with the service. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again later." This has been consistent for atleast 3 weeks.
It doesn't even work for me to backup the accounts from the Authenticator app. If I try to recover from a backup on some other phone, that phone does not receive the prompts. I believe that is due to the fact that I am not logged into Authenticator from the account that I... can't log into :)
I would highly appreciate any help!
I have already spoken to support and they say that this can happen on Samsung Galaxy phones. The only solution they could mention is for me to set up the app again... but that would mean I lose access to what I already have access to in the app currently. (Atleast I am getting a prompt now... even though it doesn't work).
