Mailto is set in settings to Thunderbird. Default mail client is Thunderbird, yet when I select files and invoke mailto, I receive a message that I need to set up mailto on outlook. There are several others complaining of the same. How can this be fixed. I did all of the typical things like rebooting. Would it help if I erased/disabled outlook or would that hamper use of the other 365 programs that I find are useful.

I contacted outlook support because I was referred to this support by another Microsoft support, who I was referred to by another. Do you have a link for MAILTO support.
