Users can't search within their home folder which we made available offline.

As the subject says, our users can't search in their home folder. Our setup is as follows:

  • all users have their home folder mapped to the U drive. To: \fs\users$%USERNAME%
  • several folders are redirected to the U drive, for example: Desktop, Documents, Favorites, etc.
  • for notebook users we have a policy that enables Offline Files for \fs\users$%USERNAME%

The home folder mapping works as expected

The redirections works as expected.

The Offline Files work as expected. When I remove the network from the notebook the files keep available.

But while searching in the U drive for the notebook users there are no results showing.

If I disable the Offline Files and search, the results are shown.

I see other posts on the internet from administrators which have the same issue. But I couldnt find a fix.

All help is welcome.

Greetings Jop

    Hello Jop,

Based on the information you have provided, it seems that this issue is related to Offline Files. When Offline Files is enabled, the search index may not be updated properly, which can cause search results to not show up.

To resolve this issue, you can try rebuilding the search index. Here are the steps to do so:

    1. Open Control Panel and go to Indexing Options.
    2. Click on the Advanced button.
    3. Click on the Rebuild button under Troubleshooting.
    4. Wait for the index to be rebuilt.

After the index has been rebuilt, try searching again and see if the issue has been resolved.

    Best Regards
