Hello Rndbsl,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.
BitLocker is a full disk encryption feature included with professional editions of Windows, and it's designed to protect your data by encrypting the entire drive.
Unfortunately, without the BitLocker recovery key, it can be challenging to access the encrypted drive. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
- Check with Your IT Department
If the former IT administrator set up your laptop, your company's IT department might have a record of the BitLocker recovery key. Contact another IT administrator or your manager to check if they can provide you with the key.
- Try Accessing Microsoft Account
If the laptop was set up with a Microsoft account, the BitLocker recovery key might be saved to that account. You mentioned the email *******@outlook.com
. If you have access to that account, you can:
- Go to the [Microsoft BitLocker Recovery Key] (https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey) page.
- Log in with the Microsoft account credentials.
- Check if the recovery key is listed there.
- USB Drive or Print Out
Sometimes, the BitLocker recovery key might be saved to a USB drive or printed out. Check if there are any related documents or USB drives that might contain the key.
- AD or Azure AD
If your laptop is part of a domain or Azure Active Directory (AAD), the recovery key might be stored there. If so, another IT admin with access to AD or AAD might be able to retrieve the key for you.
- Check for Physical Documents
Look for any paperwork or documentation that came with your laptop. Sometimes, the recovery key is printed and included with the laptop.
I hope the information above is helpful.
