I have an up to date action pack. I had used all of my activations but my NAS died which had all my VM's on it. I have purchased a new NAS but I am unable to activate windows. Is there a way to clear the activations that I already have so that I can use the product keys that I have?

    Hello

Yes, you can clear the activations and use your product keys again.

Here are the steps to do it:

Open a command prompt as an Administrator.

Enter slmgr /upk and wait for this to complete. This will uninstall the current product key from Windows and put it into an unlicensed state.

Enter slmgr /cpky and wait for this to complete. This will remove the product key from the registry if it’s still there.

These commands should be run on each of the VMs where you want to clear the activation. After running these commands, you should be able to use your product keys to activate Windows Server 2019 on your new NAS.

Remember, it’s always a good idea to keep a backup of your VMs and product keys to prevent such issues in the future.

    Hello Wei,

I did as you suggested and there was no change. I get the message that bthe product key that I have has reached its maximum activations. Is there a way to contact microsoft to have them clear the activations on my Action pack so that I can use the product keys again. I have a paid account with Microsoft.

The message prompts that the maximum number of activations has been reached, indicating that your activation method may be MAK activation. You can try to activate online or by phone:
