something blocking p2p connections

Hello, it appears something on my pc is blocking my p2p connections. I can't play No man's sky in multiplayer (failed to join lobby), no one can join me and I can't join anyone. At first I thought it was something with No man's, but Parsec also isn't working. I can't connect to people and they can't connect to me.

I have Windows 10 Pro and I use Kaspersky premium.

  • I disabled both Windows defender and Kaspersky
  • Reinstalled both apps
  • Set inbound and outbound rules on both of them
  • Changing group policy rules for p2p

Can't be my router because I use the same network on my laptop, and it works there. Also, I don't know if that matters, but my friends had the inbound rules automatically created, I didn't and had to set them up manually.

And it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

    Hello ,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Here are some possible solutions and suggestions for the P2P connection issues you are experiencing on your Windows 10 Pro:

    1. Make sure your network is set up correctly. Open Settings > Network & Internet > Status to check if your network connection is normal. You can try resetting your network settings by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Status, and then tapping on Network Reset.
    2. Even though you have disabled Kaspersky, sometimes some of its settings may still affect the network connection. Make sure to check the following in Kaspersky:
Make sure that the Network Protection or Firewall features are not enabled.
In Kaspersky's settings, look at the Application Control section and make sure No Man's Sky and Parsec are allowed to access the network.
    3. Although you've disabled Windows Defender, make sure Windows Firewall isn't blocking the app in question. You can check your firewall settings in Control Panel> System & Security > Windows Defender Firewall to make sure that both the inbound and outbound rules for No Man's Sky and Parsec are set up correctly.
    4. Open a command prompt (run as administrator) and enter the following command to reset the network settings:
      netsh int ip reset
      netsh winsock reset
      ipconfig /release
      ipconfig /renew
      ipconfig /flushdns
These commands will reset the IP stack, Winsock, and DNS cache and may help resolve connectivity issues.
    5. Although you mentioned that the router works fine on other devices, it is still advisable to check the settings of the router to make sure that there are no features enabled that could prevent P2P connections, such as UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) or port forwarding settings.
    6. Sometimes, you can bypass network restrictions by using a VPN. You can try using a VPN to connect to a different server and see if that solves the P2P connection issue.
    7. Make sure your Windows 10 system is up to date, some updates may fix issues related to network connectivity.

If the problem persists, it is recommended that you contact Kaspersky's technical support and ask if there is a specific setup or known issue that may be causing the P2P connection to fail.

I hope the information above is helpful.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Regards,
    Jill Zhou

The recent Windows 11 update is affecting my wifi cameras p2p client viewer. Right after the update no picture available although cams are online, connected and sound works. I installed newest viewer and still no picture. Then I noticed new option on the new viewer "Hard decoding". When I turned on hard decoding, pictures came on but digital zoom feature is malfunctioning so the Mr. Softy update has messed up a codec, it would seem to me.

P2P viewer on my Windows 10 PCs not affected... yet!

Obviously it is not a router issue or all PCs would be affected
