Hi Anorj Bala,
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.
I. Confirming the existence of an organizational account
Check the Access Work and School settings:
Open the Settings app, select Accounts, then Access Work and School. Here you can see if any work or school accounts are listed.
If an account is listed but you no longer need to use it, try deleting or disconnecting it.
Check email and calendar apps:
If you previously linked your school email to your computer, it may have automatically added an organizational account. Check your email and calendar apps to see if there is an account associated with School Email.
Second, solve the problem that gpedit.msc cannot be found
Enable the Group Policy Editor:
gpedit.msc is a command for the Group Policy Editor, which may not be available in some versions of Windows, such as Home Edition.
If you are using Windows Home Edition, you may need to upgrade to Professional or Enterprise Edition to use the Group Policy Editor.
Another option is to use Local Security Policy (secpol.msc), but please note that it is not as comprehensive as the Group Policy Editor.
About wmic command and registry editing
The wmic command:
The wmic command you are trying to use is for managing the Windows Management Interface (WMI). The command wmic path Win32_UserAccount set PasswordExpires=False is used to set a user's password to never expire, but it is not directly related to changing PINs or managing organizational accounts.
Registry Editor:
The Registry Editor is a powerful tool for directly modifying system settings and configurations for Windows.
The “passportForWork” folder you mentioned may be specific to certain organizations or configurations, and not all Windows installations will include it.
Before modifying the registry, be sure to back up your current settings and proceed with caution to avoid system instability or data loss.
Suggested steps
Disconnect or delete the organization account:
If you find an organizational account in the Access to Work and School settings that you no longer need, try deleting or disconnecting it.
Reset PIN:
If you are still getting the “Your organization has asked you to change your PIN” prompt and you are sure you don't have an organizational account, try resetting your PIN through the Sign-in Options in Windows Settings.
Best regards
