Windows 11 issue after 22H2 update :"The shell stopped unexpectedly and explorer.exe was restarted"

Update 2: Booting in Safe Mode doesn't change anything

Update 1: I already do sfc /scannow and dism /restore health but the problem still occur

After Windows Update 22H2 I'm stuck in a flashing white screen after log in.

Ctrl+Alt+Del, then Task Manager, Run new task : msconfig, then Event Viewer tool, and I found a lot of errors (see belows):

Nota : 2 month ago, after un automatically update, I've got the same issue, not checking the event Viewer, but trying to uninstall the latest featured update, which fixed my problem.. NOW the uninstall doesn't work anymore.. "We ran into a problem and won't be able to uninstall the latest feature update of Windows" :(((

Thx!

The shell stopped unexpectedly and explorer.exe was restarted.

    Hello Daniel,

My name is Nada I'm here to help you.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I will try my best to assist you.

Updates are not meant to mess up the system. There are just instances that our device encounters some issues during the download and installation period of updates.

Have you tried creating a new user account to see if the issue also happens from there? If not, please try creating a new local admin account and observe. The steps are below if you can still access the device:

    1. Press the Windows key and R key and type in NETPLWIZ.
    2. Click "Add" then choose "Sign in with a local account instead" and fill out the necessary information.
    3. Once done, select the new username and click "Properties".
    4. On the 'Group Membership' tab, choose "Administrator" then click on "Apply" then "OK".

If the issue is not happening to the new user, it's great! I suggest transferring all your personal files from the old user to the new user.

Let me know if you had issues with the steps or need further assistance in case the issue persists. Don't forget to mention the results after the steps given above.

    Thank you!

If the issue persists, you may try to perform an in-place upgrade process to fix the issues you're getting from these updates. This is a repair installation process that will repair your Windows system and at the same time fix all the possible corruptions and complete missing components - causing the problems.

    1. Go to this link: https://aka.ms/downloadW10ISO and click on the "Download now" button. (Not Update now button)
    2. Click on the MediaCreationTool file that has been downloaded and a new window named "Windows 10 Setup" will appear.
    3. Accept the terms and license agreement page but make sure to read it first.
    4. Choose "Upgrade this PC now".
    5. Wait for the process until it restarts the PC.

You may watch this video on how to perform an in-place upgrade. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/videoplayer/emb...

    Best,

    Thanks again for the suggestion!

I already tried this workaround but doesn't work "Startup repair couldn't repair your PC" :(

So I have to do a Reset PC, keeping my personal files, etc

Now I got an up to date W11 system, but I have to install all my programs back...

And in this process I found that 7+ Taskbar Tweaker(I personally really enjoyed this!) that I used for W10 style taskbar became incompatible with this version of W11.

Plus a message about "explorer" ! (so related with my very beginning problem)

    Not injected into explorer

So, for now I'll search another option to have the W10 style taskbar...

For others peoples who may read this : you can look for uninstall 7+Tweak, if there is one, maybe that could help

Thanks anyway, Nada, for your support !

    Best regards,

    Daniel
