Windows Server License - Verify Authenticity

Hi,

i just bought a windows server licence on ebay to update my server. Unfortunately i´m not sure if that is real, because i paid only 53 euros.

Both seals where intact, the installation-disc was untouched. I have a original server 2012r2 license to compare, and i see no difference. The only reason i don´t believe in this product is the price...

I tried to use the microsoft pid-service, but it ends in nowhere. After ~50 calls i got a agent on the phone and depicted her the situation. She says she couldn´t help me (i´m living in germany, seller is from latvia) and redirected me to the different number where i got a tape announcement to ask for help in the internet...

I don´t know how to manage these. Maybe it was a "old" license and they never used it, the mainstream support ends in 3 month.

Is there any option to validate the product-key for usage and authenticity?

Thanks

Matze

    Hello Matze1978

Since you did not purchase it from an official source, we cannot tell if the product key you purchased is genuine.

We recommend that you purchase licenses from official sources. Do not use unauthorized licenses, as this may cause problems with your server and may violate Microsoft's license agreement.

    Hi Hania,

what is the definition of official source? The microsoft-store? You can´t buy used licenses at microsoft (which makes sense from their point of view).

I know the check of a productkey says nothing about the license, but it would be an indicator... If the key is used already it´s definitely a fraud.

    Hello Matze1978

An official source for Microsoft products would be any authorized Microsoft retailer or reseller, the Microsoft Store, or the Microsoft website. It is important to purchase licenses from official sources to ensure that the license is genuine and valid. Microsoft does not support the purchase or use of used licenses, as they cannot guarantee the authenticity or validity of the license. When activating a product key, it is important to ensure that the key is genuine and has not been used before, as using a fraudulent key can result in legal and technical issues.

    Best Regards,
