Hi Everyone,

While using the trackpad for 2-finger scrolling within folders in windows explorer in detailed view, the scrolling keeps changing the folder view to list or some other view, which is really annoying.

It seems like this may have been an issue from a while back that has now cropped up again.

System Specs:

Dell Precision 7680

Intel Core i9-13950HX

64GB RAM

Windows 11 Enterprise 23H2 Build 22631.3737

Any Ideas?

I am having the same issue and I do not want to disable two finger scrolling I need to disable the ability to change the view when pinch to zoom is "accidently" used. When two finger scrolling what is happening is pinch to zoom on the mouse pad is changing the view of file explorer. I do not want to disable pinch to zoom as I use it for other applications. We need to disable pinch to zoom in file explorer that is all.

If pinch to zoom is accidently used it changes the view from icons to details to tiles to content. We do not want this to happen.

Exactly the same issue. There really needs to be a way to disable this behavior, if there isn't. It wouldn't so bad if you could "pinch out" back to details view, but it doesn't work that way.

Very basic UX issue tbh. If "zoom in" does one thing "zoom out" should reverse thing.

Disabling pinch-to-zoom is absolutely not a viable solution. The issue is the way File Explorer handles zooming, with no settings to tweak it.

    Workaround:

To get back to "Detailed view" quickly, there is a little button in the bottom-right corner of Explorer that looks like 3 lines:

Pressing this immediately puts you back into Detailed view. You can also use Ctrl-Shift+6 to activate the button.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on the description, I understand your question is related to folder view keeps changing unexpectedly while using two-finger scrolling in Windows 11.

You can try restore to default: locate File Explorer/ View/ three-dots menu (ellipsis) / Options,

In the Folder Options, select the View tab.

    Then click Restore Defaults.

It can restore the folder view to default, then you can monitor the issue.

    Have a nice day.

    Best Regards,

    Molly

    Hi Molly,

I was able to put the view back to normal. I'm still trying to figure out why this is happening.
