Hello Sid Van Damme,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.
To use your headset for both input and output, you need to make sure that your PC recognizes it as a headset and not just as headphones. Here are the steps you can follow:
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Sounds".
- Click on the "Recording" tab.
- Right-click on an empty space and select "Show Disabled Devices".
- If your headset is listed, right-click on it and select "Enable". If it's not listed, make sure it's properly connected to your PC and try again.
- Right-click on your headset and select "Set as Default Device".
- Click on the "Playback" tab.
- Right-click on your headset and select "Set as Default Device".
- Click "Apply" and then "OK".
If your headset still doesn't work as both input and output, you may need to update your audio drivers or check if your headset is compatible with your PC. As for the mic being inside the ear cups, that's a common design for gaming headsets. The mic is usually located on the left ear cup and can be adjusted to pick up your voice.
I hope the information above is helpful.
